End of The F***ing World Review

THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD REVIEW

Hey guys, welcome back to KuroHa Scribbles, I am your creepy amateur writer, Kuroba Hareta(黒羽 晴太), back with another review. Man, it felt good saying review. It’s been a while fuckers, hasn’t it? Man I’m gonna say fuck a lot, since my brain's fucked up. So yea keep a fucking count, and lemme know in the fucking comments.

So, as you can see, by the title, this is a review of “THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD”. Now, without any further adeo let’s get started.

---------------------------------------------------------
STORY : Based on the award-winning comic book series by Charles Forsman, `The End of the F...ing World' sees two 17-year-old outsiders, James and Alyssa, embark on a road trip to find Alyssa's estranged father, who left home when she was just a child. James, who's pretty convinced he's a psychopath, has decided it's time to graduate from killing animals to something bigger, and he's already got a target in mind. Alyssa, the embodiment of existential angst, feels like she doesn't fit in at her new school despite being quite popular. Together, they get caught up on a trail of violent events that grow increasingly more ominous as their quest progresses.

You can basically get this info from fucking IMDb. But yea the story’s fucking amazing lads. Yes IMDb did a pretty good job on it without giving spoilers. Yea before I speak my opinion majority are gonna be basic stuffs I copied from my research.

Cast and Characters : Alex Lawther as James, a 17-year-old who believes he is a psychopath; the disturbed love interest of Alyssa.*chef’s kiss*. My man did his role of living “the ideal imaginary life is the quiet kid” and convinced he is one of us wannabe psychopaths. Ye his expressions were awesome. Like being dead when Alyssa kissed him or feeling weird when he was getting a blowjob( I mean I’d feel weird as well, not cuz I don’t wanna feel the pleasure but cuz I’ve a 1 inch dick. What? Don’t size same me now!!!).

Next up, we got, Jessica Barden as Alyssa, a rebellious teenage girl. Initially James's intended victim but later his love interest. Before saying anything, let’s breathe in lads, then read this, she’s fucking 29 now, 25 at the time when the series was shot. Now, I’ve been bitching about olders playing younger peeps in movies, looking at you, Wanda Maximoff(no way, you cute Olsen, but to be honest, I won’t buy you’re the same as me in the canon). Despite being almost the same age as alpha mentioned Beth Olsen, does a better job at being a 17 year old frick. Yea and she convincingly looked younger or “acted” younger than co-star Alex, who’s bloody 4 years younger. (Also props to the makers, making the kisses awkward, suggesting the teen phenomenon).

The other casts I would not spoil, except of course the immediate parents :

Christine Bottomley as Gwen, Alyssa’s mother.

Navin Chowdhry as Tony, Alyssa’s stepfather.

Steve Oram as Phil, James’s caring father.

MUSIC : Yea whoever selected the music, should thrown a Grammy. It’s bloody hell stupidly fucking terrific and hilarious. There are a lot of soundtracks and I’ll link a Spotify playlist here. My personal favorite is “Laughing on the Outside”.

MY THOUGHTS : When in 2017, a 15 year old me saw the trailer, it was like yea that’s the bloody life I want. When a friend suggested me to watch this in 2021, a 19 year old me, and I watched it, I was like, “FUCK, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ME, I NEED A BLOODY PSYCHOLOGIST. FUCK ME.” That being my first impression. But hey this shit is more than just hey kids don’t do this and more hey adults, we all thought about doing this(if you haven’t you need life bro, honestly), well you can live through the guilt by the lives of these kids(I’m gonna call them kids, cuz for most of the parts they were 17).

On a critical level, this show is fucking awesome. I mean it. I bloody never thought they’d mix romance with British slapsticks and dark Comedy and NETFLIX of all will get it right. They did. Honestly guys, if you guys stay away from Live action anime adaptations you are pretty good. This show has that introvert space in Alex and covers for the extrovert space Alyssa *which again chef’s kiss* . The world building *chef’s kiss* . The second season could’ve very well been a movie, but I mean the character dev was still there so it’s still above average. There are specific thoughts in it, that’ll not discuss in this very Article. I’d discuss them in a spoiler article or *winks* a video essay. This is a romantic comedy masterpiece. Period.
Although I’d say everyone and their mothers, should watch this, I’d rather keep a 16+ rating to it.

RATINGS : 9.375/10 (SEASON 1 > 9.75/10 ; SEASON 2 > 9/10).
