VIOLET EVERGARDEN : I FINALLY GET GILBERTXVIOLET

VIOLET EVERGARDEN : I FINALLY GET GILBERT X VIOLET

Disclaimer – Contains spoiler from Violet Evergarden, Violet Evergarden : Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll and The trailer of Violet Evergarden : The Movie.

Violet Evergarden is a Japanese light novel written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase, featuring Violet Evergarden, a young female ex-soldier, gets a job at a writers' agency and goes on assignments to create letters that can connect people. She is also shown to miss her major, Gilbert Bougainvillea. She is known to be searching for the various meanings of the phrase, "愛してる"(romaji : Aishiteru), which means "I love you" in English. Throughout the show, she came across not only the clichéd emotions of I love you, ie, the romantic one but also mother-child, father-daughter, and various other relationships and emotions. Making it one of the most beautiful and emotional animes of all time.

One of the factors bothered me for some reason was Gilbert and Violet being considered a romantic ship. I'd have it as something that benefited Violet's character development but when the trailer of Violet Evergarden : The Movie, revealed that Gilbert is indeed alive, I was kinda pissed as it seemed as ruined the purpose of Violet as a character and a person, like it made Violet the same old "doll" type character she used to be at the starting of the show. The other one was it being pretty creepy of sorts, and by that I don't mean the 15 years difference in their ages(which was common during the portrayed era), but the sheer fact that everything Gilbert did for her, seemingly, meant coz he just wanted to fuck her.

As the title says, I did have a big misconception regarding the relationship or more a scope everyone looks over. What I thought was that not only the age gap was creepy but all of Gilbert's love was kinda for consentive sexual please. Boy, was I wrong, here's the reason why :

First of all, let's talk about Gilbert, he's from a respected family and a better person than that of his brother, leaving his fortunes alone, would have a line of hoes with asses ready to be shoved in his face. So it will be absurd Gilbert, of all people, to choose Violet, a feelingless slave girl, who, by his own goddamn brother, is described nothing more than that of a dog, for sexual pleasures. The point is, the reason, which I now think of as, might be her innocence and guilt for being a warrior, which creates hundreds, if not thousands of Violets. Loving Violet is his way for repenting his sins, Violet living the lives of thousands that he potentially destroyed in the name of war. Loving Violet, for Gilbert, is the very symbol of peace(NOT ALL MIGHT YOU DUMBASS).

For Violet, the sexual pleasure is absolutely non existant, given her condition at the beginning of the show, it is easy presume, that she had been used as sex slave more than once, perhaps even by Dietfried Bougainvillea himself. Perhaps every feeling of Little Violet begins and ends with her former major.
